A Great Start to the Week

We had a great start to our week in third grade today.  We will have a much more normal week this week than the last couple.

This morning we started a new story in reading titled, Prudy's Problem and How She Solved It.  The test over this story will be Friday.  The kids also got a new spelling list and should be bring home a worksheet to practice that includes the list for the week.  Keep studying those spelling words at home.  Make sure to ask your student where their words are so they are getting home and aren't getting lost on the trip home.

This afternoon in math we started learning about perimeter.  There will be perimeter homework in today.  It might also be a fun activity to help your child find the perimeter of something at home.  A room in the house, around the house, the yard, the driveway, etc. would all be good ideas.  All that is needed to do this is a tape measure and some scratch paper to figure out the math.  This will also help them on their math facts.  Make them figure out the answer on paper, don't let them use a calculator. :)

Tomorrow we will have a visitor from the Blank Park Zoo to share some animals with the third grade.
